Bands

Bands will be listed as follows: most recent projects first, the oldest last.

Pedal Kings

Ab Bol: Double bass, electric double bass, bass ukelele.
Hans Tonino: flutes.

Ab and Hans have been playing together for more than 20 years. Ten years ago, a friend of us suggested the name "Pedal Kings" as we were using lots of effect pedals at that time.  We play, as we call it, "slow jazz". We use simple, but composed melodies and lots of improvisation leading to soundscape-like music.

In particular, we like to play at openings of exhibitions. Maybe, because some people find our music to be "arty". Bookings are welcome!

Presently, we are both using loopers and other effect pedals, with Ab on double bass and Hans on bass flute.

SEW

Maarten Mors: electric bass.

Erik Peetoom: keyboard, electronics, samples.
Hans Tonino: flute, alto flute, electronics, samples.

SEW (Swingen En Wringen - swinging and wringing) has been active during June 2012 until July 2013. The basis of SEW's music was improvisation, mostly without prior arrangements. At a later stage, each song got its own harmonic & melodic structure so that it could be repeated in a recognisable way. SEW's musical style could have been called 'Nu Jazz'. We recorded one demo album, called 'Why does it shake so hard?'.

Tonotopics

Ab Bol: electric double bass, samples.

Guus Derkzen: soprano, alto and baritone saxes.

Pieter Mineur: drums.

Hans Pattist: tenor sax.
Hans Tonino: flute, keyboard, electronics, samples.

Tonotopics were active during the years 2005-2010. Their music was heavily based on improvisations. These were then further developed into songs provided with notated themes, chords and samples. During performances there was ample room for improvisation within the created framework. Tonopics's style is hard to characterise. Maybe it was some kind of jazz?

Tonotopics used to perform at art manifestations, though during their six years of existence they didn't have a lot of gigs. But, we did record one demo album entitled 'Brodmann 41'.
